Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in a guided trip?
Every trip includes a professional guide, drift boat or wade gear, all rods, reels, flies, leaders, and tippet. Full-day trips include lunch and beverages. You bring a fishing license, weather-appropriate clothing, polarized sunglasses, and waders if you have them.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Montana fishing licenses are required for everyone 12 and older. You can buy a 2-day, 10-day, or season license online from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks before your trip.
What skill level do I need?
Any skill level. Our guides regularly work with first-time anglers as well as experienced fly fishers chasing trophy fish. Tell us your experience when you book and we'll match you with the right guide and water.
When is the best time to fish in Montana?
The Missouri, Madison, and Bighorn fish well from April through October, with hatches and conditions changing through the season. Spring offers big streamers and skwalas; summer brings dry fly fishing; fall is famous for brown trout and aggressive streamer action.
How far in advance should I book?
Prime weeks (June, July, September) sell out months in advance. We recommend booking as early as possible. Last-minute openings do happen, especially mid-week — call or check availability online.
